A LARGE variety of freshwater fish and plants will be auctioned off this Wednesday May 13 th at the Bonsor community center in Burnaby. Tell your friends and fellow aquarists.
Come and enjoy Coffee and cookies with friends. admission is 2 dollars to help cover the cost of the room. Meeting starts at 7:30.

Vancouver Aquatic Hobbyist Society will meet May 13th, 2015 at the Bonsor Community center at 7:30 pm. Bonsor Community center is in Burnaby behind Metro town.

Dave Carlson will be hosting a forum discussion on breeding tropicals, come out and hear who’s breeding what and how their doing it.

Quick question and answer discussion and our usual monthly auction.

Everyone is welcome, we ask for a 2 dollar entrance fee to help cover the cost of the room.

This years Auction will be at the Bonsor Community Center in Burnaby at 7:30 pm.

This is a Fish and Plant auction only. Everyone is Welcome but you must be a member to sell, anyone can buy.

Memberships are available at the door, come out and support your Aquarium club.

There will be door prize, and we ask everyone to contribute 2 dollars to help cover the room cost.

March 11, 2015 meeting of the Vancouver Aquatic Hobbyist Society at the Bonsor Community center in Burnaby at 7:30 pm. Everyone is Welcome. Come out and meet other aquarists and fish breeders.

Vancouver Aquatic Hobbyist Society will also meet on April ,8, 2015 and May 13, 2015.

The February meeting of the Vancouver Aquatic Hobbyist Society will be February 11, 2015 at The Bonsor Community Center in Burnaby at 7:30 pm.

Guest speaker this month is Jeff from J & L Aquatics, his talk will be Grow, Inspire and Entertain. with a focus on lighting.

We will have our usual question and answer period for anyone having problems there are lots of experienced aquarists on hand to help and our auction of surplus plants and fish from local hobbyists.

VANCOUVER AQUATIC HOBBYIST SOCIETY ANNUAL AUCTION AND FUNDRAISER.

The November fundraiser/ Auction  will be held November 8th, 2014  at St. Pius X church in North Vancouver, 1150 Mount Seymour Road. Registration from 8:30 to 9:30.

This is our annual auction which replaces our monthly meeting. A big all day affair and auction. Proceeds go to support Project Piaba in Brazil and help support the Vancouver Aquatic Hobbyist Society.

Locally raised fish, and plants, used equipment, many unusual fish and plants from aquarists around the lower mainland, vancouver island. Great deals and lots of fun. Everyone is welcome.

We will also have our Auctioneer Friend Phil from the  Seattle Aquarium club helping us out again. Volunteers are needed so please email [email protected] to help out, come out and support the club.

Juan Miguel Azas will be our guest speaker on Wednesday September 10, 2014 at the Bonsor Community center in Burnaby at 7:30 pm.

Admission is for members only but you can join at the door for 20 dollars. members are asked to contribute 2 dollars to cover the room cost. all funds go to support the Vancouver Aquatic Hobbyist Society enabling us to bring guest speakers and special events, and promote the aquarium hobby in the lower mainland area.

Juan Miguel Artigas Azas is an aquarist in San Luis Potosí, Mexico (the very center of it). He has loved fish since he can remember and has kept them steadily in home aquariums for over 30 years now. His main interest are Central American Cichlids and Mexican fishes, but he is also very interested in any other type of fish.

Juan Miguel is the creator and editor of the Cichlid Room Companion. His love for computers and nature, together with the revolutionary development of Internet was too much for him to let the opportunity to create this page pass along. He has found that the maintenance of a real good home page is a life time enterprise, and he is ready to cope to that.

Juan Miguel enjoys travelling to the natural habitats of the fish he loves, where he obtains underwater pictures of them. He likes to observe them, trying to understand their natural history and relationships. He has managed to obtain a great knowledge on the biology and geographical distribution of the fishes in Mexico. This gives to his conferences an originality and special interest.

Juan Miguel has written many articles on Mexican and Central American Freshwater fish, mainly on cichlids, for several club and aquarium publications. He has also been honored with the invitation as lecturer in fish oriented conventions in several countries, including Mexico, United States, Belgium, Canada, England, Netherlands, Norway, France, Italy Sweden and Germany. Juan Miguel is part of the American Cichlid Association – Marineland speakers program.

Juan Miguel has been awarded the Guy Jordan Retrospective Award 2008 by the American Cichlid Association. The maximum honor this association gives to people who has done extensive contributions to the International Cichlid Hobby.
